Last week I spoke to a group of college students. Before I started my talk, I confessed that they were an intimidating group to speak to. After, one of the students approached me and asked why I was intimidated. I wasn’t quite sure why. I think that, on some level, I wanted them to think I was cool! I realize that for someone on the wrong side of 40, who drives a minivan and buys his clothes at Costco, that ship has sailed. Plus, young people don’t want you to be cool; they want you to care about them.
That’s one of the principles in our resource for this week: Discipling Emerging Adults. You’ll learn from leaders on how to connect with members of the younger generation and lead them to the next level in their spiritual journeys. Also, check out Discipling in a Digital Age. This resource has tips on how to move a distracted generation toward Christ.
Discipling Emerging Adults The crisis of "leavers"—20-and-30-somethings who leave the church after high school and never return—has led to a renewed focus on outreach to the millennial generation. But another critical component of the church's response has to be a plan for discipling and mentoring those who do return. This resource will help you identify the particular issues and challenges of the millennial generation and practical tips on how to help them grow toward spiritual maturity and embrace positions of leadership. Scot McKnight, Dan Kimball, Erwin McManus, and more Read More
Discipling in a Digital Age For better and for worse, technology has changed everything about the way we live—even, and perhaps especially, in the church. This resource includes articles from seasoned ministry veterans that will help you guide and lead effectively amid digital distraction, hyper-connectedness, and social media savvy.
