For anyone not too familiar with Indian classical music, a sarodiya is a musician who plays the sarod: a fretless stringed instrument used in Hindustani music. The sarodiyas at Wigmore Hall will be joined by a variety of musicians from both Indian and Western classical traditions to present music based on various ragas — melodic frameworks for improvisation that are unique to Indian classical music.
