By KELLY P. KISSEL | Metro editor A high-profile sex crimes case involving children is finally over. Former Livingston Parish deputy Dennis Perkins accepted a 100-year prison sentence Tuesday. His plea means a number of young victims will not have to testify in a courtroom, and a jury won't be forced to hear evidence against the longtime law officer. This is the guy accused of tainting baked goods his then-wife gave to some of the school children she taught in the Livingston school system. Cynthia Perkins has been sentenced to 41 years in prison. As part of Dennis Perkins' deal, he's given up a right to seek a reduction in his sentence. Grim news from the Gulf.
