A road game at Arkansas. It's always a tough assignment for the LSU Tigers, a game that comes late in the year and usually when inclement autumn weather has started to put Fayetteville in its grip. Making that assignment even tougher is the fact the game usually comes right after the Tigers are coming off a bruising, emotional game against Alabama. LSU is fresh off a big win over Alabama this time — 32-31 in overtime for those below rock dwellers — but the distraction may be even greater for the Tigers as they are getting waves of applause sent their way. Does that make Saturday's contest a trap game? LSU coach Brian Kelly isn't exactly buying that. “I guess that's what they call it,” Kelly said Monday. “I've never bought into that because I think if it's a trap game, you have not done a very good job with your football team.” More and more folks are starting to acknowledge that Kelly is doing a very good job with his LSU football team. My column focuses on "The Conversion" — a double-sided reference to both the two-point play that Kelly gambled on to beat Bama and the minds Kelly is winning over in what has become a remarkable first season at LSU.
