Letter from the Editor There is a plethora of reports being released on how the changes in lifestyle and increases in stress due to the shutdown of life caused by Covid-19 has caused an increase in weight gain, pre-diabetes and diabetes in the United States. They also discuss how treatment programs and counseling are overwhelmed, and it may take 3-4 years to clear out the backlog. This is causing many clinicians to look for medication fixes for these patients, especially ones that may decrease overeating and result in weight loss. Our intern Emmanuel Obi, PharmD Candidate, LECOM College of Pharmacy, looked at the newest research on GLP-1 analogs, and found that every medication in the class delivers weight stabilization or weight loss. However, one drug does the best job, and with new research on doubling the currently approved dosage, blows everyone else in the class away. Check out this week's Laterpay article to find out which GLP-1 analog he is talking about. ***************************** We can make a difference! ***************************** Dave Joffe Editor-in-chief |

| With Injection Techniques, Seeing is Teaching I asked a patient with erratic glucose levels where he usually gave his insulin injections to which he responded, "In my arms." I asked, "Could you show me where?" The patient promptly rolled up his sleeves and pointed to the vein in his antecubital space. |
