| | New beignnings for city agency The former Mayor's Office of Minority and Women-Owned Business Development has undergone a transformation and is now subsumed under the Mayor's Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development. Led by inaugural director Christopher Lundy, the newly established agency aims to make an impact by providing specialized resources and support to small and minority-owned businesses. Its primary objective will be to try and level the playing field for women and minority-owned small businesses. By leveraging the expertise and resources of various initiatives, this agency seeks to foster collaboration, streamline services and effectively address the unique needs of these businesses. "Baltimore’s small, minority- and women-owned businesses have always been part of the engine for the City’s economic growth and this will be another spark that keeps that engine moving," said Mayor Scott in a press release. The mayor shared similar feelings about Black- and women-owned ventures during his remarks at a ribbon cutting for five new businesses at Lexington and Howard Streets in downtown Baltimore. We are interested in the potential this transformation brings and the opportunities it could create for our tech and entrepreneurship communities. What do you think of this office change-up? Will it create change that will impact your businesses?
