Money found for power complex: The New Orleans City Council has identified $17 million to fully fund a power complex that will stabilize the city’s drainage and tap water pumps, a key piece of funding for one of the city’s top infrastructure projects. Major donation: Tulane University has received a major gift — a $160 million lifetime commitment from a longtime donor — and will use it to overhaul its School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine to include several new research initiatives.
