First up, a driver was caught 'snoring merrily away' on the M6 near Bamber Bridge with full-beam headlights and engine running yesteday morning. Police,who discovered the Mazda sat on the hard shoulder, arrested the driver after they were found to be twice over the drink drive limit. In a separate incident, officers also arrested two men after a serious assault in Preston city centre which left a man in his 20s fighting for his life in hospital. The victim suffered serious head injuries and was found near the Harris Museum on Friday. Two men – a 28-year-old from Preston and a 21-year-old man from Ashton – were arrested on suspicion of Section 18 Wounding the following day. Elsewhere in the city, car fans flocked to the Classics in the Park vehicle show which returned for the first time since before the pandemic.
