Microsoft unveils new gear and more AI at Build event

The company described the new Copilot+ computers as 'the fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever built'

Microsoft unveiled a new category of AI-focused Copilot+ laptops powered by Arm-based Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors from Qualcomm, ZDNet reported.

The company also introduced the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, with the former now offering an OLED display panel. Notably, some of the new Surface devices and other Copilot+ laptops from the likes of Lenovo, Dell, Acer, Asus, and HP boast faster speeds than Apple's 15-inch MacBook Air M3.

Copilot+ PCs will also get a standout feature called Recall (though there are strict hardware requirements) that supercharges on-device search ...

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 may be bad news for Android flagship phone prices

It might be a good idea to start saving now for the next top-tier Android phones

Folks interested in purchasing a high-end Android phone next year should know now that it could cost much more than expected, Android Authority reported.

Qualcomm itself said last fall that its Snapdragon Gen 4 processor would see a price hike, and now a prominent leaker has claimed that the cost of the new processor will increase "significantly,” though no specific figure is mentioned. The leaker even suggested that one unnamed manufacturer could cancel one of its upcoming flagship phones due to elevated costs, though this hasn't been confirmed.

As Android Authority pointed out, tech companies will either pass on the extra costs to customers, which means pricier phones, or make compromises on features like build quality or camera technology ...

BenQ launches W5800 4K home theater projector with HDR-Pro

The device looks like a solid piece of kit — but it ain't cheap!

BenQ’a newest 4K home theater projector is the W5800, BetaNews reported. The new machine features BenQ's exclusive CinematicColor and advanced HDR-Pro technology for a true 4K UHD experience with 8.3 million pixels, and it's apparently the only 4K home cinema projector to achieve 100% DCI-P3 color accuracy.

The W5800 projector is good for a screen of up to 200 inches, and includes an HDR brightness function enabling customization of brightness levels based on the projection size. It also offers a Filmmaker Mode “to preserve the original image quality of high-definition sources in HDR mode,” BetaNews said.

The main drawback appears to be the cost: $5,999 ...

Longlegs trailer: Nicolas Cage goes crazy in new horror movie

The fright fest is the latest effort from writer/director Oz Perkins, the son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins

Another trailer (above) has just dropped for Longlegs, a horror flick starring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe that hits theaters in July.

The movie revolves around a series of occult murders by a serial killer called Longlegs. It turns out they’re connected to an FBI detective’s past, so she has to solve the mystery to make the killings stop, IndieWire reported.

The trailer for Longlegs is light on plot, but in the grand tradition of horror previews, it’s packed with scary visuals and spine-tingling soundscapes that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up ...
