Next-gen Macs with M4 silicon could be here in November

The next wave of Mac machines with the M4 silicon could hit shelves in November

Hardware updates for the iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini lines should land just weeks from now, according to Apple tipster Mark Gurman.

In his Power On newsletter delivered on Sunday, Gurman said he expects the tech giant to hold an unveil event toward the end of this month and then release “at least some” of the new M4 machines on Friday, November 1.

While the laptops are likely to retain their physical designs, the Mac Mini, which is reportedly getting variants with M4 and M4 Pro processors, is expected to see a long-overdue overhaul that will shrink the size of the machine, possibly making it as small as the Apple TV set-top box ...

The Huawei Watch Ultimate is the best smartwatch you haven’t heard of

Certain smartwatches get all the attention, but if you want something different that works with iOS and Android, then take a look at this one

Following some hands-on time with Huawei’s latest smartwatch, Digital Trends described it as “the best smartwatch you’re in danger of overlooking.”

The report praises the Huawei Watch Ultimate for its “unique style and simplicity of use,” adding that it has “the appeal of a luxury traditional watch.” It comes with an abundance of features for golf and outdoor enthusiasts, a vast array of watch faces, and a battery that should last about a week before it needs recharging.

The new smartwatch is a whopper, too, featuring a 48mm case and a thickness of 13mm. “It’s bold and brash and not for the shy,” the report said ...

GoPro launches ultralight, more affordable Hero camera

Priced at $199, the new Hero is now GoPro's most affordable action camera

GoPro’s new Hero action camera offers 4K video, 2x slo-mo at 2.7K resolution, and 12-megapixel photos. At 86 grams (3.03 ounces), it’s also very light.

The diminutive device features GoPro's simplest user interface yet, according to the company, with a touch display that lets you frame shots, swipe to change modes, check the battery and SD card status, and pair the camera to your phone for easy camera control and content transfer via the GoPro app.

It can record footage continuously for over an hour at its highest video setting on a single charge. GoPro claims its Enduro battery technology works well in a range of conditions, including rain and snow ...

Joker sequel stumbles on box office debut

But it still took more than any other movie

Joker: Folie à Deux was expected to open in North America with ticket sales in of between $50 million and $65 million across the weekend. But the sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga only managed a disappointing $40 million, Variety reported.

That’s well down on the $96.2 million that the first installment earned on its debut weekend five years ago. Variety described the start as “disastrous” for Warner Bros., which spent $200 million on making it.

The early reviews for Joker: Folie à Deux have been pretty poor overall. On IMDb it currently has a 5.4 rating, and just 30% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter ...

Sony's new, powerful console launches next month and costs $700

At the recent Tokyo Game Show, Digital Trends took Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro for a spin and was impressed by its stellar image quality and smooth action.

“While it may be pricey, this upgrade may be what finally unlocks the graphical promises of this generation,” Digital Trends said in a report that focuses on what it was like to play Gran Turismo 7 on Sony’s upcoming, high-end machine.

“It’s already one of the best-looking games on Sony’s console," reporter Justin Koreis thought. "What was a Pro model really going to show me that I haven't already seen in one of the system's best-looking and performing games?” Find out what happened next ...
