What will Apple announce at its  October event?

Updates look to be on the way for the MacBook Pro line and other devices

Apple usually holds a Mac-focused event in October, and while it’s yet to confirm anything on this front, this year isn’t expected to be any different.

Prominent Apple tipster Mark Gurman believes that while the MacBook Pro design is unlikely to change, the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is expected to get an M4 chip, while the other 14-inch models and the 16-inch MacBook Pro will probably receive the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.

A smaller Mac mini is also rumored to be incoming, with the device expected to be fitted with the M4 chip.

The TORRAS Ostand Spin offers so much it makes your iPhone 16 live longer

These days, it’s no longer acceptable for a phone case to simply be a case. There’s good reason for that, too. You carry your phone with you everywhere you go, so whatever you have attached to it should not only protect one of your most precious valuables but also add to the experience. A pioneer of that idea is TORRAS, one of the first to introduce a flip-out magnetic ring design. Now, they’re everywhere, but TORRAS still does it bigger and better, like the TORRAS Ostand Spin cases for the iPhone 16 Series ...

A virus infected more than 11 million Android devices. Here’s what we know

You might notice a performance hit, but the malware is designed to go undetected while it generates revenue for the perpetrator

An estimated 11 devices have been infected with the infamous Necro malware, according to researchers at Kaspersky SecureList.

Several Android were confirmed infected, including Wuta Camera and Max Browser, Digital Trends reported, adding that there are also WhatsApp mods from unofficial sources that carry the malware, as well as a Spotify mod called Spotify Plus. Wuta Camera purged the malware in version 6.4.7.138, while the Max Browser has been removed from the Play Store, but only after it'd been downloaded and installed more than a million times.

The Necro malware is designed to generate revenue for the attacker by running processes in the background of your phone, but there are ways to get rid of it ...

Razer’s new headphones serve in-game haptics straight to your skull

The Kraken V4 Pro headphones cost $400 and they’re available now

Razer’s just-announced Kraken V4 Pro headphones include support for haptic feedback, which vibrates to the tune of in-game content, Digital Trends reported.

Described by Razer as “Sensa HD Haptics,” the fun feature is supposed to let you feel “everything from the whiz of bullets to the subtle vibrations of distant thunderstorms.”

You can choose from three preset haptic settings, but users can create their own custom profile as well. There’s also an option to adjust the intensity of the vibrations that you feel. But take note, if you enable the earcup RGB lights and the haptic experience, the battery life will plummet from 50 hours to 12 hours per charge ...

The Wild Robot wins the weekend box office

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was well away from retaining the top spot

On its first weekend of release, Universal and DreamWorks’ The Wild Robot won the box office with ticket sales of $35 million from 3,962 venues in North America, Variety reported.

The success of The Wild Robot knocked Beetlejuice Beetlejuice off its perch, with Tim Burton’s long-awaited sequel raking in $16 million from 3,804 venues in its fourth weekend of release.

Ranking third, Paramount’s Transformers One took $9.3 million on its second weekend, while Francis Ford Coppola’s sci-fi epic Megalopolis bombed with a $6 million debut ...

Your old gaming console might be worth a tidy sum

Some retro models are selling well on eBay

If you have an old video game console or two gathering dust in the attic, it could be worth a few bucks, Lifewire reported.

After analyzing eBay sales of retro consoles over recent months, gaming site Clash.gg found the Atari Jaguar CD at the top of the popularity list, selling for an average of $1,080 — more than seven times its original price. “Despite its short lifespan (released in 1995 and discontinued in 1996), it’s now highly sought after," Lifewire said, adding that only 13 games were ever made for the machine.

Sega’s Master System was in second spot, going for just over $500, while the original Atari Jaguar placed third, fetching around $480 ...
