Far-right leader Geert Wilders has pulled his PVV party out of the Dutch ruling coalition, toppling Prime Minister Dick Schoof’s government after less than a year in power. "No signature for our asylum plans. No changes to the Main Outline Agreement. PVV leaves the coalition," Wilders posted on X on Tuesday morning.
Wilders had issued a blunt ultimatum to coalition partners last week: sign on to a sweeping 10-point anti-migration plan or risk the coalition’s collapse.
His plan called for sealing the borders with military patrols, rejecting all asylum-seekers at entry points, suspending family reunification for recognized refugees, and deporting Syrians on temporary visas, arguing much of Syria is now safe. |
