| | Sunday, November 1, 2020 | The biggest storylines coming out of Week 8 are going to be about the potential changes we saw in backfields around the league. The Colts, Patriots, Bills, 49ers, and Rams all saw what could be potentially significant changes to how their running back committees work, and only the latter two were because of injuries. | Of course, that doesn't mean injuries weren't a key part of the Week 8 narrative — they just weren't as much at running back. Before we get to the early Waiver Wire targets looking ahead at Week 9, here's the injuries you need to know about from Sunday's action, and what they could mean moving forward: | George Kittle (ankle) — With the 49ers set to play the Packers Thursday, it seems like a long shot that Kittle will be healthy enough to play in that one. The good news is, X-Rays taken after the game came back negative, so hopefully this isn't a long-term issue. If Jordan Reed can return from IR in time, he would be an interesting streamer for Week 9. Kenny Golladay (hip) — Golladay was silent even before leaving the game, but the injury is what kept him shut out for good. The Lions have already had their bye so hopefully this isn't too serious of an injury, because every week lost will cost you. Darrell Henderson (thigh) — Henderson did not play in the second half after leaving, though he thankfully does have the Week 9 bye to recover. Still, Cam Akers will be worth considering as an add on waivers this week on the off chance he finally gets an extended look. Tevin Coleman (knee) — Coleman made it about one half before aggravating the injury that originally landed him on IR. It's not clear how serious the injury is at this point, but it seems safe to assume he's going to have to miss some time again, making JaMycal Hasty the last healthy man standing in San Francisco. Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) — This lingering issue has forced Garoppolo out of three games at this point, and with the short week on the way, it might keep him out Thursday as well. T.Y. Hilton (groin) — Hilton left in the third quarter, but had just two catches for 9 yards before then. It's time to stop waiting for him to turn things around, even if he is healthy. Adam Humphries (concussion) — This was a scary looking one, as Humphries took a hard shot on a long catch. He'll have to go through the concussion protocol before being cleared to return for Week 9. | We'll have more updates on those injuries and everything else from Week 9 Monday, but for now, here are the top early waiver-wire targets for Week 9.
