EAT 2020 back to the fields

Follow our corn crop tour live coverage in Ukraine!

Once again, at this time of the year, traders’ attention is focused on the corn market. The world corn prices will be strongly influenced by major exporters: USA, Brazil, Argentina, and Ukraine.

Weather conditions on the corn market are in opposition on both sides of the Atlantic. A rainy weather is boosting the crops in the US Corn Belt. Thisis contrasting with the parched soils and the heat wave in place on a good part of Europe. Due to a reduction of the outlook in France or in Romania, the European shortfall will be compensated by larger imports. Note, that the EU is the first importer of Ukrainian corn*.

In Central Ukraine, the dry weather is degrading the potential, dampening the perspective of a production above 40 Mt. However, last year the situation was the same and the country finally had a bumper crop as predicted by EAT teams two weeks before the harvest.

So, it will be crucial to assess the potential directly in the fields between the 24th and 28th of August and this in order to foresee balance sheet evolutions, export flows and prices...

The EAT clients will receive a first-handed information every day during the crop tour, and our final forecasts of Black Sea corn production 2020.
