Monday: EBF hosts Climate Finance Day event with banks at COP25 |

At the invitation of DG Clima, EBF has organized a COP25 side event that brings together chief executive officers of leading European banks with European policymakers and experts to exchange views on how banks can support the transition to a sustainable economy and a climate-proof, low-carbon future. Among the confirmed speakers are Carola von Schmettow, CEO HSBC Germany; José Antonio Alvarez, CEO Santander; Onur Genç, CEO BBVA and Peter Blom, CEO Triodos. This session will also mark the release of the EBF report 'Encouraging and Rewarding Sustainability', identifying how public-private cooperation can be leveraged to accelerate sustainable finance. Banks want to serve society as enablers of the future. When it comes to tackling climate change and creating a sustainable economy banks are keen to play their part as partners in society. Thursday-Friday: European Council and Euro Summit in Brussels |

On Thursday 12 and Friday 13 December, EU leaders will meet for the Euro Summit in inclusive format of 27 EU member states. EU leaders discussion will concentrate on areas where convergence of views is the greatest. Progressing step-by-step on issues such as the completion of the banking union, and the development of the European Stability Mechanism to strengthen the resilience of the European Monetary Union. Strengthening the international role of the euro becomes both the logical continuation of and a new frontier in the Economic and Monetary Union overall agenda, developed over the past four years and making the international economy less vulnerable to shocks linked to a single dominant currency.
