Euronews: ECB meeting preview: No surprise cut in July, all eyes on September

Following June’s rate cut, the European Central Bank (ECB) is expected to maintain rates steady at its July meeting, awaiting September economic projections. According to Euronews, divisions widen between hawk and dove members, while analysts anticipate two more cuts by year-end. Read more

 

FT: Strict EU sustainable finance rules deter emerging market investment, banks say 

Stringent EU rules on sustainable finance are preventing investment in emerging markets, the head of one of the EU’s largest development banks has said to the Financial Times (FT), warning that Chinese and Middle Eastern groups are filling the gap. Read more

 

The Banker: Basel Endgame stumbles at the finish line

Billed as best practice in capital adequacy, Basel standards on banking have long been the global star in the realm of prudential rulemaking. The latest version — Basel Endgame, as it has come to be known — was supposedly a done deal, with banks set to fork out more capital from 2025, The Banker reports. Read more

SFF: Improvements still needed for the next FATF review

Finance Iceland (SFF) reports Jóna Björk Guðnadóttur - senior lawyer of the Association of Financial Services Companies - interview focused on the upcoming FATF (Financial Action Task Force) review of money laundering measures in Iceland, which is scheduled to begin next year. Read more (IS)


Finance Latvia: The number of committed financial frauds continues to decrease

The Financial Industry Association (FNA) shows that the number of implemented phone fraud and investment fraud cases continues to decrease - in June, 17% fewer phone fraud cases and 6% fewer investment fraud cases were implemented than in May. Read more (LV)


CBA: Price growth in services accelerated again in June

According to the Czech Banking Association (CBA), producer prices in June sound mixed, industrial producer prices fell slightly compared to May according to analysts' expectations, partly due to fluctuating energy items, but in the other monitored segments, prices rose month-on-month and the price development was stronger than the long-term June development of 2010-2019. Read more (CZ)

BIS: Basel Committee publishes final disclosure framework for banks' cryptoasset exposures and targeted amendments to its cryptoasset standard

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has published the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision final disclosure framework for banks' cryptoasset exposures and targeted amendments to its cryptoasset standard published in December 2022. Read more


ESAs: Establishment of the framework to strengthen coordination in case of systemic cyber incidents

The three European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) will establish the EU systemic cyber incident coordination framework (EU-SCICF), in the context of the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), that will facilitate an effective financial sector response to a cyber incident that poses a risk to financial stability. Read more

 

EBA: Clarification of the operational application of CRR 3 in the area of credit risk modelling

The European Banking Authority (EBA) welcomes the entry into force of the new European Banking Package, which implements the final Basel III framework into European Union (EU) regulation. Read more
