Financial Times: EU weighs UK-style trade deal with US

The European Commission is pushing for a limited trade agreement with the US, similar to the recent UK deal, to avoid full-scale retaliation over tariffs. Some EU countries, including France, favour a tougher stance, while others urge continued dialogue, reports the Financial Times. Read more


The Banker: Bank of London parent posts third year of losses as total deficits top £100mn

Oplyse Holdings, parent of the Bank of London, posted nearly £50mn in losses for 2023, bringing cumulative deficits to £110mn. Governance turmoil and auditor warnings of “material uncertainty” cast doubt over its viability, writes The Banker. Read more


Risk.net: BNP Paribas eyes selective algo white label tie-ups

BNP Paribas plans to expand its white-labelling programme to allow regional banks access to its FX execution algorithms, following a recent partnership with Lloyds, reports Risk.net. Read more


Reuters: Norway central bank cuts rates in surprise move, eyes further reduction

Norges Bank unexpectedly cut its policy rate to 4.25% and signalled another reduction this year as inflation falls faster than expected, writes Reuters. Read more
