Highlights from June RAC and SEAC meetings

Our Committees for Risk Assessment (RAC) and for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) progressed their evaluation of the proposed restriction on PFAS. Additionally, RAC adopted an opinion on the occupational exposure limit of Bisphenol A to protect workers.

Enforcement

 

Next EU-wide REACH enforcement project on safe use of chemicals in workplaces

As part of the next EU-level enforcement project (REF-15), inspectors will check safe use information in safety data sheets and that risk management measures recommended in them are implemented in the workplace.  


In its June meeting, ECHA's Enforcement Forum also agreed to a new pilot project that will control export of hazardous substances from the European Union.


REACH

 

Consultation on proposed restriction of certain chromium(VI) oxides, oxyacids and salts

ECHA has submitted a proposal to restrict the use of certain chromium(VI) oxides, oxyacids and salts with carcinogenic properties.


The consultation is open until 18 December 2025.


Our scientific committees welcome early comments by 18 September 2025 to assist them in first discussions of the proposal.

Testing proposals

We have launched new consultations on 64 testing proposals.

An intention has been submitted for:

Company names to be published on the Classification and Labelling Inventory

Following a change in the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation, the names of companies that have submitted information to the Classification and Labelling (C&L) Inventory will be published on ECHA CHEM. The publication will start in July 2026.

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs)

 

Consultation on a new EU draft proposal

We are looking for comments on the draft scientific dossier for an EU proposal by the European Commission for listing Bis(2-ethylhexyl) tetrabromophthalate (TBPH) in Annex A to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).

The IUCLID software tools, Data Extractor and Text Analytics, have been updated to work with the new format of IUCLID 6.


These tools are available to download from the IUCLID website. An update for the Data Uploader will follow in the coming weeks.
