News from ECHA
Highlights from September RAC and SEAC meetings Our Committees for Risk Assessment (RAC) and for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) reached provisional conclusions on the proposed restriction of PFAS in the petroleum and mining sector.
RAC also adopted its opinion on the harmonised classification and labelling of Talc, recommending carcinogenicity as the most stringent classification.
For more details, read our news and listen to our Safer Chemicals Podcast with the RAC Chair Roberto Scazzola and the Chair of SEAC, María Ottati.
Take also a look at our new document that summarises the current status of the scientific evaluation for the PFAS restriction proposal. |

Prior Informed Consent (PIC)
Exchange of information under PIC reported for 2022-2023 Our fifth biennial report on the exchange of information under the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Regulation shows that numbers of export notifications sent from the European Union to non-EU countries remained on similar levels as previous years, with around 19 000 transmitted export notifications to circa 150 importing countries. The report also gives a summary of the notifications for final regulatory actions that the EU submitted to the Rotterdam Convention Secretariat about banned or severely restricted chemicals that qualify for PIC notifications, as well as details on explicit consent responses and information exchange on ad hoc basis. |
