New intention and proposals to harmonise classification and labelling

An intention has been submitted for:

• Silver chloride (provisional chemical name) (EC 232-033-3, CAS 7783-90-6).

Four proposals have been submitted for:

• diclofop-methyl (ISO); methyl 2-(4-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)phenoxy)propionate; methyl (RS)-2-[4-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)phenoxy]propionate* (EC 257-141-8, CAS 51338-27-3);
• 2-ethylhexyl 10-ethyl-4,4-dimethyl-7-oxo-8-oxa-3,5-dithia-4-stannatetradecanoate* (EC 260-829-0, CAS 57583-35-4);
• [1α(S*),3α]-(α)-cyano-(3-phenoxyphenyl)methyl3-(2,2-dichlor-oethenyl)-2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethyl-cyclopropanecarboxylate αCypermethrin) (provisional chemical name) (EC - , CAS 67375-30-8); and
• Sodium fluoride* (EC 231-667-8, CAS 7681-49-4).

*Due to a technical issue, the status in the Registry of CLH Intentions still shows intention instead of submission.

Treated articles: List of allowed substances updated

Is your company interested in manufacturing articles treated with biocidal active substances?

We have updated the list of substance-product-type combinations that can be used in treated articles.

List of biocides suppliers updated

An updated Article 95 list of active substance and product suppliers is now available. 

List of notifications updated

We have updated the list of substance and product-type combinations for which a compliant notification for inclusion in the Review Programme has been made.

The list also includes the names of the notifying companies to help you collaborate when submitting an application for approval of the active substance and to help avoid unnecessary testing on animals.

Drinking Water Directive

New support material for drinking water notifications and applications

Have a look at our new web pages, which explain the processes for submitting notifications of intention and applications under the Drinking Water Directive.

This includes:

• a step-by-step infographic on notifications of intention;
• information about the tools to be used; and
• links to the practical guide, the first IUCLID manual, and the guidance from the Joint Research Centre.

Drinking Water Directive Stakeholders Workshop

Our hybrid workshop for Drinking Water Directive stakeholders will take place in Helsinki and online on 27-28 October 2025.

Day 1 will cover legal obligations and data requirements for notifications of intention and applications under the Drinking Water Directive, alongside IT tools, submission systems, and available support material.

Day 2 will demonstrate the full notification process, with time for Q&As.

In-person attendance is limited to 50 people. Priority is given to Member State representatives and Drinking Water Directive user group members. 

If you want to join in person, register by 2 September 2025 and wait for confirmation before making travel arrangements. No registration is needed to join online.

Nanopinion: Voltage-reconfigurable magneto-ionic states for next-generation nanoscale memory and computing devices

In June’s Nanopinion guest column, researchers Irena Spasojević and Jordi Sort explain their discovery of "magneto-ionic vortices", a revolutionary nanoscale magnetic object that mimics the behaviour of brain synapses. 

This finding opens new opportunities for creating customisable, reconfigurable magnetic devices that are both energy-efficient and adaptable after fabrication.
