IT Tools

New OECD QSAR Toolbox version available

QSAR Toolbox 4.7 enhances and expands the use of metabolism information, increases capacity to search for analogues and improves reporting of a prediction from category approach or (Q)SAR models. Along with these new implementations, many system modules including profilers, simulators, databases, documentation and caches have been updated.

The OECD QSAR Toolbox is a collaborative project between ECHA, OECD and its member and partner countries. It is used worldwide in hazard assessment of chemicals to avoid unnecessary animal testing.

Board of Appeal

New Board of Appeal decision in a compliance check follow-up case

Case A-004-2023 concerned the follow-up to a compliance check. By its initial compliance check decision, the Agency had required information on an extended one-generation reproductive toxicity study (EOGRTS). The Appellant carried out the EOGRTS but omitted certain histopathological investigations.

The Board of Appeal held that the OECD test guideline for the EOGRTS requires the histopathological investigations at issue in this case. It also found that the Appellant had not shown that there was a valid reason for omitting them. The EOGRTS needs to be completed by carrying out the missing investigations. The appeal was consequently dismissed.
