| | New opportunities Last Week, JPMorgan Chase made an announcement alongside Gov. Wes Moore, Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller and some other key folks about the launch of the banking institution's first virtual call center team in Baltimore. This initiative, launched in collaboration with the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Employment Development, aims to create job opportunities for Baltimore residents, especially those from underserved neighborhoods, starting with the recruitment of 37 specialists who will engage with customers over the phone. According to the announcement, this group represents the first of what they hope will be many cohorts to come. At the announcement event. Each employee will earn a minimum of $22.50 per hour and receive an annual benefits healthcare package valued at approximately $16,000. That’s decent, considering that Maryland's minimum wage is $13.25 for large employers and $12.80 for small employers. For tipped employees, the rate is $3.63. Tip your waiters and bartenders this weekend and every weekend. This is not the first virtual call center established by the company; the other is in Detroit. – Technical.ly reporter Alanah Nichole Davis (alanah@technical.ly) | | | | By Hiatus Cheesecake took home the grand prize of $25,000 at the annual Crab Tank Pitch Competition.
