United States MBA Mortgage Applications Survey March 22: 8.9% The mortgage market posted a robust uptick in activity during the week of March 22, with the top-line market index increasing 8.9%. The four-week moving averages for purchasing and refinancing were positive and showed the strongest gains since early February. Canada Earnings, Hours and Employment Jan. 2019: 2.0% The Canadian labor market continues to idle. Canada International Merchandise Trade Jan. 2019: -C$ 4.2 bil The first increase in exports since July 2018 drove a decline in Canada’s merchandise trade deficit. United States International Trade (FT900) Jan. 2019: -$51.1 bil The nominal trade deficit narrowed more than anticipated in January, falling by $8.8 billion to $51.1 billion following December’s unusually high deficit. Mexico Trade Balance Feb. 2019: US$1,221.6 mil The trade balance turned positive in February after a wide deficit in the previous month.
