By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor EWE'S SUCCESSION: Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards, who died last summer at 93, left all of his assets to his eight-year-old son, Eli, according to a signed, handwritten document that was filed last week in Ascension Parish court. Two of Edwards' adult children question the validity of his signature on the one-page document, but they and another adult child say they don't plan to challenge it. Yet another adult child, however, is contesting the will. 'HOMAGE TO HISTORY": Scores of art lovers gathered Saturday at the former Lee Circle in New Orleans to witness the finale of the Prospect.5 international art exhibition: the unveiling of celebrated artist Simone Leigh's "Sentinel (Mami Wata)," a 12-foot sculpture of an attenuated female figure with a drum-shaped head, wrapped in an enormous serpent. Prospect.5 says the artwork is intended as “an homage to history and continued presence of traditions of the African diaspora in New Orleans." NERD ALERT: For Dimitri Apessos, a WWOZ disc jockey and eighth-grade mathematics teacher in New Orleans, appearing on the "Jeopardy!" game show was a dream come true. Even if his wardrobe choices had been called into question. Even if it seemed to be all over in the blink of an eye. And even if he came in third among three contestants, and won the absolute minimum amount of money possible, a $1,000 consolation prize. Thanks for starting your Sunday with us.
