It’s been a little more than a year since El Salvador adopted Bitcoin as a national currency. Such a disruptive progress in Bitcoin adoption terms wouldn’t have been possible without the development of the Lightning Network.

An entire nation would have never been able to adopt Bitcoin for every day micropayments if it wasn’t possible to transact with it instantly and cheaply. The Lightning Network has achieved that with Bitcoin while also helping El Salvador in its adoption. One year later, there are enough evidential metrics indicating that the Lightning Network has also benefited from El Salvador’s bet on Bitcoin.
