 English language learners at Bakersfield City School District are scoring higher on an assessment that measures listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

This comes after the Southern California district underwent an extensive three-year PD plan and pilot program using collaborative reading strategies by Corwin’s Douglas Fisher and Nancy Frey.

Find out more about the program that helped raise the proficiency of the district’s ELL population by 57 percent.
