I recognise that face: Machine vision with Omron's HVC

Giving machines the power of vision gives them the ability to interact with people in a much more natural way, but integrating this capability was previously a complex and difficult task.

Omron has developed an easy solution that can recognise faces, gestures and even emotions for machine user interface design. In this week's Engineers' Insight, Giovanna Monari investigates Omron's HVC-P2 module, a small camera board which includes advanced image processing, outputs ready to use data on the person’s gaze direction and blink state, and can estimate expression, age and gender based on a photograph of the user.
