EQT to add muscle to Europa Biosite as Adelis sells stake; Verdane in mobile app security deal

Good morning, Nina Lindholm here with the Europe Wire from the London newsroom.

Europe could become the place to be for life sciences in the near future. EQT is betting on that possibility, and this morning, we hear from partner Rikke Nielsen about the firm’s freshly announced life sciences deal in Sweden.

We then look at BlackRock’s midyear update. PE Hub’s Sophie Rose attended a media roundtable to hear what the firm is keeping its eye on.

To finish, we explore a mobile application security deal. Verdane is the latest to make a move in the segment.

Vital role

EQT sees Europe playing an “increasing role” in the biotech sector, a view that has impelled it to acquire a majority stake in Europa Biosite, a distributor of high-quality, research-use-only life science reagents, chemicals and biological substances for healthcare R&D, partner Rikke Nielsen told PE Hub’s Craig McGlashan.

Adelis Equity agreed today to sell its majority stake in Stockholm-headquartered Europa Biosite to EQT Healthcare Growth, the firm’s strategy that focuses on scaling commercial-stage European healthcare companies.

To learn why EQT is betting on the sector and how it plans to grow the business, check out the full Wire coverage.

Major shifts

Yesterday, PE Hub’s Sophie Rose attended a roundtable about BlackRock’s midyear global outlook. The roundtable seemed timely ahead of the July 9 US tariff deadline, which the firm called the “next trigger event.”

For Sophie's takeaways from the event, including sectors BlackRock finds promising, take a look at the premium Wire coverage.

In safe hands

Let’s switch from energy security to cybersecurity. Verdane has announced an investment in Guardsquare, a mobile application security business.

Want to find out how Verdane plans to grow the business? Head over to the premium version of the Wire.

That’s all from me this morning. Michael Schoeck will write to you later today, while Irien Joseph will be on Europe duty tomorrow.

Cheers,

Nina
