Dear friend, On this eve of a New Year, I am both humbled and energized by what we have accomplished together, despite everything 2020 has thrown our way. Amidst so much uncertainty, the farmers market community has been a rock, an essential source of nourishment and connection, and a vision of what is possible when neighbors work together. Has it been this way for you, too? For me, the farmers market has been the force of hope and positivity that has carried me through many worry-filled days. Seeing your faces every week—even when we’re behind masks—has grounded me, bolstering my faith in our shared humanity, compassion, and resilience. We all know that rebuilding Bay Area will take much thoughtful dedication. It is hard to even predict now how our communities and habits will be changed by this pandemic. But I do know that your dedication to our farmers and food crafters, and your generosity in giving back to the community that has nourished you, is the very energy and spirit that will keep us thriving in 2021. We are just $4,500 away from our year-end fundraising goal of $45,000. Can you see us to the finish line? This last stretch of our campaign really matters. It means we can keep our farmers markets thriving, supporting our local farmers and feeding thousands of families through food assistance programs like Feed Hospitality and Market Match. It’s never been more clear to me how essential you are to this critical work.We are all connected, and we all have a role to play in creating a world where everyone has fresh food on the table, where farmers and workers are cared for, and where our children have a more hopeful food and climate future. If you have already donated, thank you for your partnership in this shared vision! I am moved and inspired to hear why you give, and what this community means to you: “CUESA and the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market have been the center of my food world for the 20 years I've lived here.” —Stu “I am a lifelong restaurant worker that wants to help my fellow hospitality members who are in need.” —Christopher “Healthy, delicious food for ALL is now more important than ever!” —Judith “For the tremendous respect I have for the hard working farmers that provide our food with such kindness.” —Shirley If you have not yet given, you can donate now—or set up a monthly contribution—to pledge your commitment to an equitable and regenerative food future in 2021 and beyond. Any amount will make a difference!
Please know that you are essentialto this community. Everyone at CUESA does this work for you as much as for the farmers and the larger mission. You are what get us up early in the mornings and planning throughout the year. You can start 2021 knowing that you are actively contributing to this community and the future you want to create. Thank you! In gratitude,
