We look forward to ramping up our domestic marketing campaign, to remind Australians about all the experiences that Australia has to offer. Internationally, we are continuing to roll out a series of virtual industry events, with applications now open for the Business Events Australia Greater China Showcase and the Australia Marketplace Online – China, read more below. Tourism Australia has signed a three-year Pan-Asia Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trip.com Group to formalise partnership to work together in Tourism Australia’s key Asian markets moving forward to promote Australia. We have also just updated our ‘Working with Tourism Australia – Domestic Edition’, which has many useful resources for industry, and I encourage you to take a look at it. Tourism Australia’s next webinar is this Friday, 11 September at 11am AEST. We will be joined by Leanne Coddington, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism and Events Queensland, giving an update on the state of the industry in Queensland as well as Fiona Carruthers, Travel Editor for the Australian Financial Review, who will be sharing insights into the kind of stories that the media are looking for at the moment. | | | Business Events Australia Greater China Showcase | Applications are now open for the Business Events Australia Greater China Showcase. The hybrid event will be held 10 to 12 November 2020 and provides an opportunity for China-ready Australian industry to establish and maintain business relationships with incentive agents and corporates buyers from the Greater China market. Australian industry will be able to join this year’s event virtually with buyers meeting face to face in China. | | Live from Aus campaign wins at AdNews Awards | Tourism Australia’s Live from Aus initiative was recognised in the AdNews awards last week. In May 2020, the Live from Aus campaign saw Australian tourism experiences live-streamed directly into the living rooms of over 35 million people around the world. The campaign featured tourism operators from different parts of the country and encouraged viewers to dream about their next Aussie holiday. The campaign was awarded the AdNews Campaign Pivot of the Year Award which recognises the achievements in navigating COVID-19 by delivering an effective campaign under extraordinary circumstances. The campaign led to over 6,800 leads to tourism operators from Australia.com. |

| | | | | Byron at Byron appoints new executive chef to new restaurant, Forest | The Northern New South Wales resort, Byron at Byron has unveiled a new restaurant and executive chef, as part of the first phase of their reopening. Now open to guests, Forest is serving up distinctly Australian cuisine such as Ballina king prawns and kangaroo, in a menu curated by Chef Etienne Karner. Passionate about local produce, artisans and farmers, over 80 per cent of ingredients served at Forest are sourced from within a three-hour drive of the restaurant, with some ingredients such as honey and herbs soured from on the property. The resort is nearing completion of a multi-million-dollar refresh as part of Crystalbrook Collection's ongoing commitment to sustainability. Phase two, includes further updates to guest suites and a new Eléme Day Spa, which will be unveiled in November. |
| | Broome welcomes its first distillery, Moodtide | Western Australia’s Kimberley region has welcomed its first distillery, Moontide Distillery, which is also now one of Australia’s most remote. The distillery, which opened in July, sits on pindan (a Djugun word meaning ‘red earth’) near the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, north of Cable Beach. Handcrafted spirits distilled with botanicals such as Kakadu plum, white berry bush and myrtle, Moontide captures the taste of the tropics. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 12 noon to 6pm, guests can visit the distillery for a tasting and learn about the distillation process and how the Kimberley charm has influenced their flavours. |

| | New summer program for Spicers Scenic Rim Trail | Part of the Great Walks of Australia Collective, South East Queensland’s Spicers Scenic Rim Trail has released its summer program including a special New Year’s Eve walk. Following a sell-out inaugural season, the summer program will see guests start their adventure with lunch at chef-hatted Homage Restaurant, before flying by helicopter to Mt Mistake. Then spend the next three days walking through lush rainforest landscapes and staying in purpose-built accommodation, including a one-of-a-kind ‘Spicers treehouse’. Finishing with a night at Spicers Peak Lodge before flying back over the Great Dividing Range, Moogerah Dam and the Condamine Gorge, further details including departure dates and prices are online now. |
