TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE

This week I am in Continental Europe where I have met with key Italian media at a luxury focused event we hosted where I presented Tourism Australia’s luxury and premium strategy and the trends we are seeing. Our visitor numbers from Italy are up five per cent on what they were 12 months ago, and it is our number one market for holiday spend per person, with an average spend of $10K per visitor.

Last week, I also attended a series of stakeholder events in the UK and Germany focused on luxury and highlighting the importance of these market to the Australian industry. You can read more about the events below. Finally, our Industry Webinar is being held this Friday. Details on how to register and speakers are below.

The roadshow provided valuable training to 190 travel agents, helping them improve their skills in creating self-drive itineraries for their clients. The event was a team effort, with support from six State and Territory Tourism Organisations and airline partners Emirates and Qantas. With a wide range of partners in attendance, travel agents had the chance to learn about the many unique travel experiences Australia offers.
