| | | | | TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE | Earlier this week Tourism Australia kicked off Australia Marketplace Japan and Korea 2022, with the event taking place in Seoul, South Korea from 26 to 27 September and Tokyo, Japan from 29 to 30 September. As we rebuild international tourism to Australia, events like this are critical in bringing together Australian industry to meet face-to-face with key travel buyers. In great news from this part of the world, last week, the Japanese Government announced from 11 October Japan will allow visa-free, independent tourism and abolish its daily arrival cap. Allowing for friction free travel both ways is fantastic news for rebuilding visitation to Australia from another key market. Hong Kong also announced, starting this week, hotel quarantine and PCR testing is no longer required when arriving into Hong Kong which is great news for returning travellers. Yesterday marked the United Nations World Tourism Day 2022 with the theme of “rethinking tourism”. As travel restrictions continue to end, there has never been a better time to reflect on what lies ahead, and there has never been a better time to get ready to take on the international competition - something we are getting ready to do with the launch of our new campaign coming in October – so stay tuned! Finally, as we prepare for the campaign launch, we are making some changes to our corporate website. Tourism.australia.com will be offline tomorrow, Thursday 29 September as the changes are rolled out. Phillipa Harrison | | | |
