| | | | | TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE | As we continue to see travel restrictions lift across the country, Tourism Australia has released two maps to support industry and consumers. The first brings together information about the easing of state and territory travel restrictions in one place and the second is a planning tool to map out road trips around the country. I will be joined by the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Qantas Airways, Alan Joyce, who will be discussing Australia’s aviation landscape, the importance of aviation to tourism and sharing insights on Qantas’ recovery strategy. | | | Australian Travel Status Map | Coronavirus (COVID-19) travel restrictions around Australia are continuing to ease, with each state and territory lifting restrictions at different times. Tourism Australia has created an interactive map that enables consumers and industry to navigate the travel restrictions and the reopening of state and territory borders. The map provides a national picture including an up to date status of border restrictions and links to each state and territory for further advice and resources. See the map here. |
| | Live from Aus streaming program continues | Tourism Australia is continuing to live stream incredible tourism experiences from across the country on its Facebook page. Last week’s segments included croissant baking in Melbourne at Lune and dolphin feeding at Tangalooma Bay in Queensland. Later this week, Tourism Australia will be live streaming Coffin Bay Oyster Shucking and Boat Tours in South Australia and the Staircase to the Moon in Broome, Western Australia. |

| | | Road trips map | Travellers around the country are starting to plan self-drive holidays as COVID-19 restrictions start to lift. Tourism Australia has created a new road trip tool to help locals discover and plan their first break. There are two parts to the experience, a dynamic landing page that allows travellers to filter featured trips based on their unique requirements and an interactive map that allows for a more visual exploration of the trips in your state. Tourism Australia is continuing to add itineraries to the planning tool and will continue to enhance the map over the coming months. |

| | | | Australian Tourism Export Council COVID Ready sector specific workshops | Tourism businesses looking to re-open their businesses with confidence can join the Australian Tourism Export Council’s (ATEC) COVID Ready program. The program supports businesses with a tourism-specific COVID Ready toolkit, provides online ‘how-to’ sector specific workshops to guide businesses through developing their ‘COVID Ready Plan’ with a focus on the customer journey and recognition badging through the industry trade directory of COVID Ready operators. | | Great Barrier Reef businesses working together | Three family run operators on the Great Barrier Reef are working together to operate on alternate days when they reopen from 10 July. Based in Cairns, Passions of Paradise, Ocean Freedom and Down Under Cruise and Dive, will be running their reef tours on different days to keep more staff in jobs and ensure the sustainability of all three businesses. Together they employ more than 100 staff and the businesses are currently surviving on the JobKeeper payment. |

| | | | Now’s the time to love NSW campaign | Destination NSW (DNSW) has launched its new recovery campaign which will run throughout June and July and targets residents of NSW, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory. Now’s the time to love NSW highlights the best of NSW’ arts, hiking, wine, family and outdoor adventure experiences. The campaign features local stories and tourism operators inviting travellers to visit. Tourism businesses can get involved in the campaign by signing up to Get Connected with Destination NSW so they are featured on VisitNSW.com, which is the call to action for all marketing activity that will roll out in the coming months. | | Wander Out Yonder campaign in Western Australia | Tourism Western Australia has launched its largest ever intrastate tourism campaign, Wander Out Yonder. The campaign will run through to September 2020 and encourages West Australians to get out and explore their own backyard. The campaign aims to inspire locals to take a different type of holiday, by exploring locations they have never been to and embarking on experiences they have never had. Tourism Western Australia is working with the Regional Tourism Organisations and Tourism Council WA to promote compelling experiences and road trips, to encourage locals to holiday in Western Australia and book direct with industry partners. |

| | | | | Share a Victorian adventure with new children’s book | A new children’s e-book which aims to virtually connect loved ones in a shared adventure has been launched by Visit Victoria. The e-book ‘Where In The World Is Melbourne?’ aims to bring people from around the world together for a shared adventure through Melbourne’s famous laneways and surrounding iconic regions. A tale of two families and their different perspectives on exploring Victoria, the book highlights many of Victoria’s most celebrated tourism attractions. The free e-book and children's activities are now available for download. |
| | Hit the snow in New South Wales from 22 June | Holidaymakers can now start planning a trip to New South Wales iconic ski fields with the state’s alpine region set to reopen from Monday 22 June. As winter descends on Australia, ski field operators such as Thredbo and Perisher, associated businesses, suppliers and industry associations are working hard to ensure measures are in place to keep visitors COVID safe when the season commences. Avid skiers and boarders who plan to visit are encouraged to plan and book ahead and confirm arrangements before their departure – and most importantly – postponing their trip if they feel unwell. | | | | Explore the Murray River with new river tour | Murray River Trails in South Australia has launched two new multi-day unique river tours, the Murray River Safari and Murray River Escapes. Including activities such as guided canoeing, birdwatching, lake cruising and rich Aboriginal cultural walks, Murry River tours and itineraries are customisable and perfect for families, groups of friends or corporate. Owned and operators by proud Riverland locals and passionate Murray River champions, the two new tours compliment Murry River Trail’s signature tour, Murray River Walk, which launched in 2016. | | The 22nd Biennale of Sydney will reopen with extended date | The 22nd Biennale of Sydney will reopen from 16 June, with some venues opening from 1 June 2020. Previously scheduled to conclude on 8 June, partner arts organisations rallied to extend the exhibition period for NIRIN. NIRIN is a contemporary art exhibition taking place across greater Sydney and showcasing more than 700 artworks under the artistic direction of acclaimed Indigenous Australian artist, Brook Andrew. Consumers are invited to once again connect, collaborate and heal by engaging with the exhibition. An overview of the COVID safety measures being taken, along with exhibition dates, will be available in the coming weeks on the Biennale website. |
