| | ETF assets flow to create record year It’s official – 2024 is a record year for ETF asset flows, beating the last record year of 2021, BlackRock says. Amundi echoed its findings and noted that European UCITS ETFs have found their stride with the best month for inflows in five years. Peter Taberner turned to Europe this week, interviewing Jefferies’ Melvyn Merran, whose fixed income business is a growing force, with the firm writing that its credit franchise now has a top 10 ranking. Merran says: "We have seen large blocks of risk deployed within FI ETFs and portfolio transition trades. The common denominator is a search for yield. FI ETFs often act as a cash placeholder." Sticking with Europe, it is also interesting to see the range of new ETF launches in our Global, non-North American, launches column, brought to you in partnership with STOXX. This week was one of the busiest we have seen in a few months, with a wide range of product types. This week also sees publication of our latest podcast in our Off the Record series with Harbor Capital Adviser’s Kristof Gleich talking to me about the joys of the US small cap. Listen here to hear Gleich’s views on what small caps can bring to a portfolio. Next week will see the publication of the ETF Express US Awards Special Report for 2024, with the full list of winners in this year’s awards and interviews with selected firms who represent the best in our industry which is enjoying such a year of growth.
