Celebrating all the flavours of ETFs

etf express beverly chandler captioned.jpgThis week has seen the publication of the European Winners Special Report accompanying our recent European ETF awards virtual event, including interviews with many of the winners in what was a challenging but ultimately very successful year for ETFs.  Many congratulations to all our winners.

We also have an interview with an ETF veteran, turned hedge fund manager, who has turned to private equity to launch his new ETF business: Darren Schuringa brings us ASYMmetric ETFs, a long/short strategy, designed to make money in down markets.

We also take a look at gold, with an interview with Nitesh Shah from WisdomTree on the precious metal’s extraordinary price rise last year and its outlook for this.

BBH’s annual ETF report is out and finds that maybe Europe is a little over all things ESG, with ESG demand down on the continent, according to their findings, but those all-weather thematics going from strength to strength.

Meanwhile, TrackInsight‘s February figures seem to agree on the thematics, reporting strong flows to cannabis and bitcoin and in a further demonstration of the continuing strength of thematics, First Trust’s Gregg Guerin tells us about the repurposing of three of their ETFs to better reflect the demand for thematic investing.

Finally, we have a Cerulli Associates round up of ETF growth in Australia over last year. 2020 saw Australia’s ETF industry grow 30.4 per cent year-on-year to AUD79.3 billion (USD60.8 billion) in assets under management, according to Morningstar, with net new flows reaching AUD18.7 billion, the highest in five years.
