Hey fam,

As tributes from Black Hollywood continue to pour in for Sidney Poitier, we have to bury yet another trailblazer. The incomparable André Leon Talley died on January 18 at age 73. The global fashion icon and former Vogue editor-at-large opened doors for Black folks in high fashion and left an indelible mark on this world. Rest in power, ALT.

On Thursday, Rep. Jamaal Bowman was arrested alongside activists fighting for voting rights after senators failed to pass key legislation. And in Mississippi, Black lawmakers walked out during a vote on a bill that purports to ban critical race theory in schools.

Lots of heavy stuff going on this month, y'all. Remember to stay safe and take care of yourselves!
