This Month’s Fringe Events

These events are free with an on-demand MozFest ticket and ready for you to engage:

💭 June 2 | Dialogues & Debates: Privacy (Still) Not Included – In recent years, society has placed a greater emphasis on mental health. Alongside this has been a rise in the number of readily available mental health apps. While things remain rough in the offline world, online, more and more apps are looking for ways to monetize users’ information. This includes mental health apps. In this Dialogues & Debates we’ll discuss the guide’s findings and the importance of improving apps privacy and security.

🌍 June 23 | Rhizome of Babel – The Rhizome of Babel is an interactive digital project created by Kosisochukwu Nnebe, in collaboration with Lucas LaRochelle, that re-examines the biblical tale of the Tower of Babel from an anti-imperialist and ecological perspective. The final product will be an interactive audio-visual environment in Mozilla Hubs (with spatialized audio) that envisions the abundance and diversity of human languages – an ecosystem in its own right – as an alternative vision of prosperity that privileges biodiversity over monoculture, opacity over transparency, relationality over hierarchy.

🏠 Week of June 20 | Movement Building From Home 2 – (Save the Date - registration opening soon!) You’re invited to join the MozFest community for Movement Building from Home 2, a new series of community calls focused on facilitative leadership that will help you sustain the momentum for your project-based work, professional development, and participation in MozFest.

💡 June 23 & 24 | Building Long-term Momentum Post MozFest – for Participants and Facilitators who want to explore ways to build off of their MozFest Session to support long term goals.

All of our upcoming Fringe Events are included with your free on-demand ticket!

Propose a Project for Trustworthy AI Working Groups

Learn more about MozFest Working Groups. Submit your project idea.
The work that has come out of our Trustworthy AI community has been inspiring. In fact, a few projects from MozFest’s Trustworthy AI cohorts have received funding to continue their work. We’re now looking for the next group of technologists, engineers, and activists to create and promote solutions to the most urgent issues in AI.

Keep The MozFest Momentum

  • Be Inspired! Tara Vassefi took ‘Truth as a Public Good’ from the MozFest Trustworthy AI Working Groups to the U.S Capital after landing her dream role after 2 years of searching. Read her story.
  • Be Aware. When it comes to protecting people’s privacy and security, mental health and prayer apps are worse than any other product category Mozilla researchers have reviewed over the past six years, according to Mozilla's latest *Privacy Not Included guide.
  • Be In The Know. Mozilla’s Fellows and Awardees are hard at work bringing light to the dark places of the internet. Review their work.
  • Be informed. What are today’s most pressing data dilemmas? Which ones are we able to live with? And which ones scare us to the core? Over two days, the Ethical Dilemma Café hosted talks, workshops, and projects that addressed these questions and proposed ways of navigating them.
  • Tweet this: If you would like to contribute to community-led projects that create and promote more Trustworthy AI, then this is the opportunity for you! mzl.la/taiwg
