A prince in his castle
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just bought a palace of their own.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who infamously abdicated from the royal family, have purchased a sprawling nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom estate in Montecito, Calif., for a staggering $14.65 million.
Hold on to your quarantine envy: This place comes complete with rose gardens, century-old olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage, two-bedroom guest house and pool. I have a feeling the couple, who have been living in Santa Barbara for the past six weeks, will fit right into the ritzy neighborhood, which counts their pals Oprah Winfrey — who owns a $90 million mansion with ocean views — and Ellen DeGeneres as residents.
The couple's new home Too bad this deal wasn't featured on "Selling Sunset"! A missed opportunity if I ever saw one.
But fear not, there's more real estate gossip to be discussed. Far, far away from all the drama surrounding Chrishell Stause and Justin Hartley, Wendy Williams is making moves of her own. The talk show host just unloaded the New Jersey home she shared with ex-husband Kevin Hunter for a measly $1.4 million. Not quite royal level, but still too rich for my blood. However, a more budget-friendly piece of Hollywood just hit the market.
Just when you thought 2020 couldn't get any more ridiculous, Catherine Zeta-Jones is auctioning off a mosquito-repellent shawl in the name of charity. Bids are currently buzzing around the $300 mark and the accessory comes with a ringing endorsement from the "Zorro" actress, who claims it "goes with everything." Do you think she meant it works well with five months spent cooped up at home?
If that'll break the bank, maybe it's time for a pick-me-up from Emily Ratajkowski, who is best known for wearing hardly any clothes and is now peddling pricey sweatpants ($85), sweat shorts ($70) and cropped tank tops as part of her swimwear line. This year continues to surprise me.
Maybe picking something up from Lauren Conrad's new beauty line is a better fit. Her first five products are all under $30. I guess those mascara tears were actually just research.
Drinking of you fondly,
Maggie |
