Taylor made for this
Taylor Swift has somehow made 2020 look easy.
On Thursday, Miss Americana herself announced that she's dropping a new album at midnight, her second while in quarantine.
"Evermore," a companion to her July surprise release "Folklore," will mark the ninth studio album for the singer-songwriter who celebrates her 31st birthday Friday.
“Ever since I was 13, I’ve been excited about turning 31 because it’s my lucky number backwards, which is why I wanted to surprise you with this now,” Swift explained on Twitter, before adding, “I also know this holiday season will be a lonely one for most of us and if there are any of you out there who turn to music to cope with missing loved ones the way I do, this is for you."
Now Shakespeare may have written “King Lear” during the plague, but Swift is giving him a run for his money because she also found the time to help those in need.
After the Washington Post wrote a feature about two women behind on their rent and utilities as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Swift donated $13,000 to Detroit resident Shelbie Selewski and the same amount to Nashville mother Nikki Cornwell.
“Nikki, I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story,” Swift wrote on Cornwell's GoFundMe page. “I’m so sorry for everything you’ve had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another. Love, Taylor.”
I'm not crying, you're crying. I don't know how she's managed to be creative and considerate while it's felt like we're all in exile, but even Swift's Christmas card — which features her cats Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button — is good.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn I must be getting soft in my old age because besides the lump in my throat over Swift's generosity, I have found myself fully immersed in speculation that she's tied the knot with actor boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
In a still from the forthcoming music video for new song "Willow," Swift wears Zimmermann’s Charm Star Lace & Ruffle Trim Silk Dress ($2,650), which looks a lot like a wedding dress.
“CAN WE FINALLY ADMIT TAYLOR IS A MARRIED WOMAN?? shes literally in a wedding dress!!!” one fan tweeted.
This is me trying ... not to read too much into things, but hey, just think of the musical possibilities. He was revealed as a ghostwriter on "Folklore," after all.
All in all, this second album release makes me think she's come to terms with what we've all struggled with since March — and the fact that we're not out of the woods just yet.
Let's just hope the rest of quarantine is Swift.
Drinking of you fondly,
