Vanderbumped off television
There's a reckoning going on between reality and TV.
On Tuesday, Bravo turned airwaves into shockwaves by firing "Vanderpump Rules" stars Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Brett Caprioni and Max Boyens after their past racist behavior resurfaced.
The casting shakeup came after Faith Stowers, the only black cast member to appear on the Lisa Vanderpump-helmed series, recounted that Schroeder, 31, and Doute, 37, falsely called the police on her in 2018.
Stowers is considering legal action. Meanwhile, Schroeder's podcast has vanished, she's been dropped from endorsement deals and her PR company, as her family campaigns to get her back on TV. While Bravo brass Andy Cohen "absolutely" supports the move, calling it "the right decision," Vanderpump released a lengthy statement, sharing that she's "deeply saddened by some of the lack of judgment that has been displayed" by her former employees. It sounds like Schroeder has made her last visit to the Clubhouse. On another network, former "Bachelorette" Rachel Lindsay is calling on ABC execs to address the franchise's "systemic racism." She wants the program to "take action to rectify the problem.” Catherine Giudici, a blast from "Bachelor" past, has spoken out on being cast, saying, "I knew that one of the reasons I was probably chosen was because I was Filipino.”
Bachelor Nation has also started a petition to cast the first black "Bachelor" for Season 25, which Lindsay, Nick Viall, JoJo Fletcher, Diggy Moreland, Nicole Lopez-Alvar and other alums have thrown their weight behind.
Meanwhile, a new celebrity-filled PSA about racism is getting panned online for stars “making this about” themselves. Did they learn nothing from Gal Gadot?
