| Isa Rosenberger: Nový most. (Setfoto: Ruzena Dinková in the restaurant of the Nový most-bridge in Bratislava) Fri, Oct 06, 17:00 Isa Rosenberger: Nový most Over the years, Isa Rosenberger has developed a particular interest in history and its mechanisms of construction, the workings of remembrance and memory, as well as social, political, and economic processes of transformation. The film "Nový most" combines archival material and personal reflections from three generations of women centring on the new bridge that was built in Bratislava between 1967 and 1972; it was a controversial structure, which involved the demolition of historical buildings in the area.
Before the screening, Rosenberger will talk about her interest in the topic and the background to the making of the film. Isa Rosenberger lives and works in Vienna. | | mehr

These actions and projects can be seen as an attempt by artists and activists to protest against hostile governmental politics and take a clear stand on behalf of this group of people.

Aleš Čermák Thu, Oct 19, 19:00 Aleš Čermák: POLO SHIRT [DISCIPLINE] In his performance, the artist Aleš Čermák grapples with the legal transgression of political boundaries. He developed the work during a residency at the MQ in Vienna in 2015, when the refugee crisis was becoming visible throughout Europe, including Vienna. He is interested in aspects of physical movement. At the same time, he turns his attention to global mobility, which is not equally available to everyone. In the performance, he addresses an arduous mode of transportation used by refugees to cross borders: hiding in vehicles.
Čermák’s performance explores the question of transcending the body. How far beyond corporeality can a person go? What extreme physical and psychological states of emergency can the body withstand? | | mehr

Cristina David: Hic Habito Cristina David Cristina David ‘squats’ in the museum space throughout the duration of the exhibition and uses it for her own needs. She wishes to question the way in which artworks are highly protected, judiciously taken care of, and given lots of valuable space, whereas artists often face precarious financial circumstances and poor living conditions.
