| Welcome to Cambodia, once ruled by the mighty Khmer empire, this charming and charismatic country is home to monuments unrivalled in both beauty and grandeur throughout Southeast Asia. Starting in the capital city Phnom Penh you'll visit Wat Phnom temple and the impressive Royal Palace. You'll tour the Killing Field of Choeung Ek, a devastating insight into Cambodia's all too recent past where the country was torn apart by war, political instability and mass genocide. From Phnom Penh, we travel to north-west Cambodia along the shores of Tonlé Sap Lake to the province of Battambang. The provincial capital has always been a popular destination for its nearby ancient temples, French colonial architecture, and Buddhist shrines. From here we'll drive to Siem Reap, the highlight of any journey through Cambodia. Here you'll have plenty of time to visit the mythical ruins of the Ta Prohm temple as well as the iconic Angkor Wat, the pride of Cambodia. The temple complex, built in the 12th century, perfectly epitomises the accomplishment and splendour of Khmer architecture, culture and religion. |
