In an exclusive interview with Technical.ly at the EcoMap Technologies conference, Gov. Wes Moore was candid. Maryland can't rest on its traditional strengths, he said, despite a wealth of resources in “the eds, the feds and the meds.”

 

“I think we haven’t been imaginative,” the entrepreneur-turned-elected official said. “And frankly, I think we’ve been lazy.”

 

His formal remarks at SuperConnect also celebrated the company's late co-founder Pava LaPere, and praised EcoMap's resilience after her passing nearly a year ago. 

 

During the discussion with Technical.ly, Moore elaborated on the unprecedented wave of government support for entrepreneurship (including a fund for student founders in LaPere's name), his innovation philosophy and more.
