DC and its surrounding states boast major cybersecurity creds. But they have a key vulnerability.
Craigslist founder Craig Newmark highlighted the country's cybersecurity needs with a recent $100 million pledge. This could be great news for Maryland, the home of a vibrant cyber industry and federal institutions like the US Cyber Command. But the state, like neighboring DC and Virginia, suffers from a major vulnerability: Thousands of unfilled cyber jobs. "Maryland, DC and Virginia together have 3.42 times the national demand for cyber talent, yet struggle to fill these roles due to bottlenecks in their educational pipeline," writes Technical.ly CEO Christopher Wink.
