Experts warn of a 2020 'meltdown' over election funding

The coronavirus HEROES Act passed Friday in the House would give states $3.6 billion to allow every American to vote by mail amid the pandemic. But the legislation crafted by Democrats is doomed as it faces the Republican-controlled Senate — and a veto threat from President Donald Trump.

Experts warn that states are under-equipped to handle the likely surge of mail-in voting in the presidential contest and say the U.S. may be hurtling toward a potential disaster that could bring about a delayed or disputed election result.
