| Don't miss this stylish cross-cultural Southbank Centre takeover Fashion designer Nicholas Daley is renowned for his interplay with music and culture — his colourful knitwork referencing both his own multicultural heritage and wider Black British diasporic themes. That makes him perfectly primed to curate an evening exploring the interlinking cultures of jazz, reggae and electronica at the Southbank Centre. On Friday 15 September, Nicholas Daley presents Woven Rhythms. The evening begins with a multi-generational panel discussion on reggae, punk and alternative soundscapes, with Pauline Black OBE (The Selecter), dub master Dennis Bovell MBE, and Skinny Girl Diet's Wu-Lu and Delilah Holliday hosted by Zakia Sewell. Next, Nubya Garcia and Nu Civilisation Orchestra perform Stan Getz's jazz masterpiece Focus in the Royal Festival Hall. Meanwhile, in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, tabla player Talvin Singh and producer improvises with exciting, esoteric musicians Coby Sey and Lucina Chua. The fun continues late into the night with Nicholas Daley x Concrete Lates — a celebration of soundsystem culture featuring Dennis Bovell, Ikonika, Nabihah Iqbal and a whole host of other incredible artists.
