It’s hard on everyone, and can make us feel alone and fearful, even if we’re healthy. But it’s far worse for people living with cancer, because they’re at very high risk should they become infected with Covid-19. It’s true to say that ‘CANSA cares’ – and we care even more in these difficult times. It’s also true that we’re only able to care thanks to the caring support of friends like you. So the very real and extraordinary difference you can make today is by making your gift safely online, to show your solidarity with our cancer patients. Here’s what your money will do: Firstly, it will tell people living with cancer that they’re not alone. And if they’re fearful, you, and we, are here for them. Whilst many of our ‘open door’ and ‘walk in’ services are in lockdown, we’re still very much available for help, via: Our toll free line 0800 22 66 22; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; messages sent via our website; email at info@cansa.org.za for general queries, and advocacy@cansa.org.za for queries related to treatment access. We’re also here with WhatsApp support on 072 197 9305 in English and Afrikaans, as well as 071 867 3530 in Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho and Siswati. Even though increased needs will add costs, keeping all these alternative services going is even more vital to the wellbeing of our patients and their families. You’ll also ‘be there’ for our social workers and other online staff who are working from home. And you can help us do this, from your home in lockdown, by donating now, to give as generously as you can possible manage. And may you be as generously rewarded in spirit in return. Please keep safe, and keep healthy, in these trying times.
