The Australian

Good afternoon,

International energy giant ExxonMobil has accused Australian mining billionaire Andrew Forrest of being a foreign agent orchestrating "smear campaigns" against the oil and gas sector to further his own commercial ambitions.

Meanwhile, the chief executive of Elon Musk’s X - formerly Twitter - says "legacy" news media has become almost a fan service and has welcomed Facebook parent Meta’s decision to abandon fact checking on its sites.

And The Australian's Wealth editor, James Kirby, writes that Victoria's shaky property market is about to be kicked when it's down as a series of new taxes is unleashed on real estate investors.
