| Facebook Shops: Over 1 Million Active, 250 Million People Interacting Per Month | | | | Facebook announced that there are more than 1 million active Facebook Shops and over 250 million people are interacting with them every month. Read more from David Cohen about Facebook's commerce investment. The interesting part is Mark Zuckerberg announced this on invite-only audio-app Clubhouse. The app, which hired a couple of big names this week, is building its brand among marketers and pioneering brands are exploring their voice in the app. As noted through Facebook’s move, Clubhouse works as a PR vehicle. The low barrier for entry to create virtual events has attracted publishers like Cosmopolitan and Insider to host panels. While I'm here, for the Clubhouse curios, I will point you towards Adweek's own Toby Daniels, who is hosting his weekly Clubhouse conversation on reinventing marketing today, 11 a.m. EST. Questions remain about the longevity of Clubhouse. How popular the app—and virtual events—will be once people can gather again in person is unclear. Ticket prices have been forever lowered. That, plus growing discontent among virtual event sponsors on virtual events’ capacity to deliver results, is why longer-term, publishers like The New Yorker are linking virtual events subscriber strategies. ICYM Mark Stenberg's exclusive on The New Yorker's events strategy earlier this week, catch up here.
