Facing the New Normal | This week I heard about a church that recently resumed their in-person gatherings. After months of streaming services, it was a welcome change. Everything went well, but there was one major difference. Before the pandemic, the church had more than 800 attending. On the first Sunday back they had 37. Of course, more are likely to return. But this church—and many others—have discovered that church life isn’t going to just snap back to the way it was before. At least not anytime soon. If you’re curious about how the pandemic has affected preaching specifically, you’ll benefit from reading What Pastors See as the ‘New Normal’ for Preaching After the Pandemic. One silver lining for these preachers: “COVID-19 pandemic refocused them on the God-centered nature of preaching.” Also, check out our resource on Navigating Change. The insight of these seasoned ministry leaders will help you prepare for the tumultuous days ahead. |
